In Roman mythology, the Big Dipper is associated with the beautiful nymph Callisto who gave birth to the son of Jupiter. Juno (Greek Hera), the wife of Jupiter, turned Callisto into a bear out of jealousy as to punish Callisto and take away her beauty. In one version of the story, Callisto would come across her child all grown up many years later. Just as her son was about to slay his own mother, Jupiter would appear and avert the situation by placing them both amongst the stars.

Delivered fast and sellers seemed attentive. The only issue on both lamps I purchased is if ceiling mounted, the longer shapes droop down and are not straight. with this design, not sure there is anything that can be done however but it does look cheaper than what we paid. however we were dreaming about having lights of these specific constellations, so I am so excited we found this seller making these, hard to complain, though I do wish they looked a little more sturdy.

I have to subtract one star for being a mirror image of the big dipper. It's backwards! Why, guys? Also the bulb holders are a bit off-kilter depth-wise. Otherwise solid, heavy, fine materials.

Beautiful, unique light. Seller reached out prior to shipping to give me a heads up that there was an additional support post added due to the weight of the tail and sagging issues. While the post was added to the fixture, mounting supplies to the wall were expressed to be buyer-supplied. After a trip to the hardware store to find weight-bearing supplies that actually fit the narrow diameter holes, we came home to install the light. After a two-person installation to carefully mount the light, the support post landed 5/8” short of the wall. The whole fixture is pretty ridged, and does not shift or adjust. Reaching out to the seller, minimal help or communication was supplied. I’ve now ordered additional parts online to try and remedy the situation so the tail doesn’t sag over time. Not exactly what I expected on a $420 purchase.

Beautiful and sturdy. Arrived very well packed. My only wish is that this came in a larger size. I’m using it over my dining table, and bigger would have looked better. I’m keeping it anyways.
