In Roman mythology, the Big Dipper is associated with the beautiful nymph Callisto who gave birth to the son of Jupiter. Juno (Greek Hera), the wife of Jupiter, turned Callisto into a bear out of jealousy as to punish Callisto and take away her beauty. In one version of the story, Callisto would come across her child all grown up many years later. Just as her son was about to slay his own mother, Jupiter would appear and avert the situation by placing them both amongst the stars.

Beautiful and sturdy. Arrived very well packed. My only wish is that this came in a larger size. I’m using it over my dining table, and bigger would have looked better. I’m keeping it anyways.

I can't even express how excited I was to find this light fixture, or how much I love it! We found our perfect MCM dream home over the summer and turned our guest room into our happy place with a mural of trees & mountains on a lake we visit each year. The only thing missing was a light fixture. We were thinking Sputnik style since we like to lay on the dock and watch for shooting stars, but this is so much more perfect! Johnny was kind enough to move the base for us and add an anchor so we could add some balance to the room with the placement of the light. The black and brass is perfect with the other fixtures in our house. The quality is outstanding and everything we needed (including gloves to prevent the brass from tarnishing) was included. The only problem? I'm sad this isn't in our primary bedroom. 😂
